What would you do if you found mushrooms growing through your carpets?
That is the exact situation one homeowner in Savannah GA finds her self in. As she lifted the carpet to see hwat was going on underneath, she found the floor was rotted away. The culprit? Faulty weatherproofing that is causing mold problems and water damage to her home in Georgia.
Notice what the article goes on to say:
“Of primary concern is a lack of proper weatherproofing or “flashing” on the exterior of the townhomes, in vulnerable areas such as the framing surrounding their garages and doorways.
As a result, residents of the 46-unit community say water is seeping in and causing the wood underneath to rot.”
Unfortunately, the cries of her and her neighbors have fallen on deaf ears from the builder who has simply offered to caulk the homes. As we have discussed in our articles before that when it comes to water damage in Atlanta you MUST:
- Remove the source of the problem first. A band aid fix will not work.
- Clean up safely using these water damage clean up tips
- Proper mold removal and remediation
- Removal of any water damaged or rotted materials that could breed mold or termites in the future
