News reporters revealed the horrible conditions the fire fighters are subjected to,  including a windowsill was rotted from water damage. Firefighters have to use a tarp over the TV to keep the water off of it. The ceiling reveals water stains water stains in the ceiling due to a water leak. Closer examination shows paper towels stuffed in the ceiling holes to keep the water off of the sleeping fire fighetrs.

Like a deep freeze isn’t bad enough now these poor families have to deal with the melting ice and water damage that resulted from the frozen pipes that broke. Unfortunately the water cut off didn’t do the trick for them. They had to actually go outside and into a manhole to do so. This quick thinking probably saved many more countless books and artifacts from water damage too.

Step 2 – get rid of the water and the humidity

“An assortment of Shop-Vac machines, fans, dehumidifiers and plastic barriers were scattered throughout the building Saturday morning as crews scurried to preserve not only exhibits and artifacts, but also dry the building’s carpet, walls and other items.”
